DETAILS

A summer with OSI is an immersive experience focused on further developing your skills in outdoor sport through hands-on work, learning, and play.

You will serve as part of a core team of passionate, energetic outdoor enthusiasts working to make the Katahdin Region an epicenter of human-powered outdoor sport. This includes –

  • Leading outdoor programming

  • Building and maintaining non-motorized trails

  • Expanding a regional gear library

  • Activating trails and outdoor spaces

  • Engaging with volunteers

  • Mentoring the next generation of leaders

All team members take part in orientation, training, and ongoing learning opportunities throughout the summer season.

Our goals through the OSI Team experience are -

This was a great balance between professional development, skill development, and brain work.
  • To help you develop as a leader and practitioner in the outdoor workforce

  • Improve your technical skills in the outdoors

  • Connect you with the people and organizations working to transform their communities through the outdoors

  • Have an insanely fun, active summer doing it.

I loved the personal development days. I learned so much about outdoor sports I would not have participated in alone.

Team positions range from 10 to 16-week commitments between mid-May and late-August. See specific positions for details.

The thing that surprised me was how connected and invested I became in this community that I had no prior ties to before this summer.

The opportunity to develop technical skills while working with a small community and group of peers was perfect for me.
